It's been a lot of fun and I think everyone is enjoying themselves and what they're learning. As I told every one of them, rugby isn't easy. You will experience your bumps and bruises, but if you listen and learn the proper actions of the game you won't get seriously hurt.
We also began our first major fund raising activity, a buy one, get one free. For $20 you get a key tag for "Pappa John's" and "Sonic" as well as a refrigerator magnet with all of our home games listed on it. When we sell all of these we should raise quite a bit of money for both the men and women's programs. If you're interested in purchasing one of these see any of the players before or after any game this season.
This coming Friday, the UT Dallas Men will be hosting a controlled scrimmage against the University of Texas at Austin. The scrimmage will begin about 7:00pm, this is only a friendly scrimmage NOT a match. This will give all the players an opportunity to play against someone other than themselves and test their abilities on the rugby pitch. A referee has been set up and maybe we'll have the pitch lined, but lines won't be the main focus. The main focus will be on playing together as a unit, testing each individual in something they've never done before.
Looking forward to seeing everyone out this new and exciting season.
