If you saw the pictures of that awards dinner, you'll see that I am wearing an evening gown, this is because I lost a bet to the ladies and being the man that I am, I paid off my debt and while I don't wear gowns every day. For that occasion, it was a lot of fun.
The ladies played 8 matches plus 2 round robin matches at the beginning of the season.
As I stated the ladies played very well especially against clubs of equal status and ability, surprising though was their play against the more established clubs. There is a bright future for these ladies and their program.
The men had another great season, going undefeated for their 3rd season, the only low point was not getting a 3rd championship trophy, but being 2nd isn't too shabby, considering there are more clubs out there that began before us and still haven't brought even a runner up trophy back to their school.
We've had a good run and are poised to begin another winning streak with a bunch of new players under the guidance of the returning players. Many players were nominated for a number of gag awards, but only the best received those awards, those nominated and the winners will remain in the minds of those who were there.
The serious awards:
Men's Rookie of the Year = Andrew Whiteis
Women's Rookie of the Year = Amber VanHecke
Men's Most Valuable Forward = Anthony "AJ" Paradowski
Women's Most Valuable Forward = Guadalupe Villanueva
Men's Most Valuable Back = Vince Dutton
Women's Most Valuable Back = Stephanie Marek
Captain's Recognition for the Men - John Bradshaw
Captain's Recognition for the Women - Alyssa Gelman
Men's Most Inspirational - Jonathan Holmes
Women's Most Inspirational - Alyssa Gelman
