This Monday with all the new players being acclimated to their new class schedules and new school, it was decided by the coaches to allow them to meet Monday to do what ever they want to do that evening.
The coaches will meet Wednesday, and after a brief meeting with all the players, practice will begin. We have a pretty aggressive schedule for both the men and women and we all feel that we can accomplish a whole lot in this upcoming season.
A schedule will be posted within the next couple of days. This season, we have a couple of friendly matches along with not only the St. Edward's Tournament, but we'll be also doing the Stephen F. Austin (SFA) Ruggerfest in Nacogdoches. This will allow us to play a bunch of kids in many positions and get them valuable game experience which will help them by the time our league season begins.
As far as the women go, we have probably the most aggressive schedule ever for a women's conference. They will play approximately 7 weekends of rugby in 8 weeks. It is aggressive, but it is very doable.
Me and the coaches (Bear, Derek and Craig) are all looking forward to meeting the new players and from what I heard from Brian, Otto, Alyssa and Vic (not that many words from her) but they are also looking forward to this upcoming season.
As this is the first blog of the 2015-2015 season, many more will be coming along as the season unfolds. As always if anyone has a question or comment, please feel free to send me an email and I'll do what I can. Here's to a very successful season for both our men and women of the UT Dallas Rugby Club.
