I was contacted by the MSU coach because he's starting up a women's team and wanted to know if we'd be interested in playing the women the same day as the guys. After speaking with a number of the ladies it was unanimously voted on that they play this match.
The guys kick off is 2:00pm, this will be a good match.
The ladies kick off at 3:30pm on the same pitch - they'll play two 20 or 25 minute halves.
MSU is fighting for a spot in the Lonestar playoffs. Currently UT Dallas sits in the number one seed from the north and even if UTD were to lose this weekend, they would retain their number one seed. On the other hand MSU is in a dog fight with SMU for the number two seed from the north, both have 29 points and both will be playing their last match of the 2013-14 league season.
The is no mistake that MSU is trying to make the playoffs, but if they can't, their objective is to knock one of the 2 undefeated teams out. And since they don't have any opportunities at playing St. Edward's, looks like they want to try and spoil our undefeated season.
The women have played like champions this past fall and spring and while some of the games didn't exactly go their way, they managed to lead the Lonestar Women's Conference for at least 3/4's of the season, only to fall each week as clubs begin to finally complete their matches. Currently the UT Dallas women hold 4th place out of 6 clubs, not back for a group of ladies, that wanted to try something out of the norm.
This has been a difficult spring season with some unbearably cold nights forcing us out of practice because classes were cancelled due to ice or extreme cold, but the lads and lasses have endured through it all and you can be proud of them and all they've achieved.
Let's go out to Wichita Falls have some fun, play our last match before the playoffs begin at UT Dallas in early match.
