Unfortunately, due to eligibility requirements that the National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) has, there are 3 players ineligible to play for us in Nebraska. Stephen Boeding, Jacob Byrd and Josef Velten because they fall outside the 5 year college eligibility window, these players were and are very instrumental in our
success in the Texas Rugby Union Collegiate Division III competition they will be traveling with the club as full members. There are other members of the club that will be traveling with the club to Waco and Nebraska but will not get the opportunity for playing time due to either their on and off practice/match schedules, but they are a part of this club and will be in support for both events.
Baylor University is a member of the Southwest Rugby Conference as a division I club, which is why we’ve scheduled this match with them. For two reasons, the first to play against a club that will be bigger than any of our past matches, the competition in Wayne will be a lot like Baylor. The other is to keep our guys in match shape and keep our timing crisp.
If things work out that Baylor has enough players for a shortened second match, I'll keep our options open, so that we do play everyone attending the match, but that will be a game time decision. I would like to play everyone in attendance, but my main concerns will be to keep our championship side prepared for the upcoming playoffs.
I put directions to Baylor University in the Home Match details section of this web site for everyone wanting to come out to the match and I encourage everyone to come out. Baylor is a fine and well coached club and the match should be a cracker of a match.
I'll contunue to post information related to the upcoming Baylor match as well as our upcoming national playoff schedule as I get any new info. Especially after this coming weekend when the final spot in the playoffs will be identified, NSCRO will be posting new info and I'll pass it on to you.
As always thank you for your support and if we are able to get past Nebraska for an appearance in the NSCRO Championships, which will be 2 weeks after Wayne, we may be calling on everyone for support in getting to Glendale, Colorado, but that's a month away. So for now we'll be working on Nebraska and working hard to show everyone how good the UT Dallas Rugby Football Club is.
