I've known the Rice Rugby Coach for about 10 years and I know that when the stars align, he can put out a side that can be dangerous. But this is not the case for Rice this year, for the second time in as many years. UT Dallas got the better of them with our ball skills, running and tackling.
The Lineup:
1. Yahve, 2. Ethan, 3. Grafton, 4. Aly, 5. Mohammed, 6. Andrew P., 7. Steven L., 8. Caleb, 9. Lewis, 10. Andrew W. 11. Jackson, 12. Edmund, 13. Tristen, 14. Octavio, 15. Eric
Reserves,
16. Michael, 17. Josue, 18. Jarvis, 19. Andrew M., 20. Will Stuberfield. 21. Brandon, 22. Alex Willis, 23. Ben
From the opening kick off it seemed that UTD was not going to be denied the ball or possession of the ball. In fact it was in the 3rd minute of the game, Flyhalf Andrew Whiteis saw an opening in the Rice defense and exploited it for the first score of the day. Scrumhalf Lewis Hopkings would make the conversion. By the time the first half came to a conclusion UTD would have a commanding lead 38 to 3.
The second half began very much like the first half, but a bit more controlled by UTD. It was also in this half that some of our newer players got the opportunity to score.
Scoring on the day,
Andrew Whiteis (2) Eric Belleu (2), Aly, Lewis, Edmund, Ben, Josue, Caleb
Try Conversions - Lewis Hopkins converted 7 out of 10 Trys
The victory was good and now the guys have the week off from Rugby to relax with friends and family this Thanksgiving week. And speaking of Thanksgiving, I'd like to give thanks:
1. My finance Suzi who allows me to persue my dream of a Collegiate Rugby Championship (any and all divisions)
2. To my coaches Bear, Daniel and Pete without your input, we wouldn't be where we are.
3. John and Heather Bradshaw, they started this and gave it to me write whatever I felt.
4. The players, all who commit some time away from whatever they do at school to come to practice and listen to the coaches talk about how great we used to be.
5. The parents of the players, without your support in we wouldn't be this far.
Our last game of the this year will be December 2nd against SFA, more details on this match to come later in the week.
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone
