Once everyone found parking and walked to the pitch, UT Dallas was ready to get on with business, but first it would take a little of what did you do last night and what exam did you study for? Before heads got into rugby. But once they got their minds into rugby, things began to take shape.
The Line up for today's match:
1. Joey, 2. Daniel, 3. Yahve, 4. Calvin, 5. Aly, 6. Steven L., 7. Andrew P., 8. Caleb, 9. Lewis, 10. Andrew W., 11. Talha, 12. Edmund, 13. Tristen, 14. Octavio, 15. Eric
Reserves: 16. Jarvis, 17. Mohammed, 18. Michael, 19. Andrew M., 20. Josue, 21. Jackson, 22. Grafton, 23. Brandon
The game started with UT Dallas kicking off to SMU, they caught and ran the ball, but it was the Comet forwards and backs that put a stop to any attack and 5 minutes into the match, Prop Yahve scored the first try of the match, Lewis converted the Try and basically this was as close as SMU would ever get in the match. It seems that UT Dallas was scoring just about every 6 minutes and SMU didn't have an answer to any of the Trys UT Dallas was running in.
After 40 minutes the first half came to a close with UTD well in front of SMU 63 to 0. The second half began with a number of substitutions being made. The substitutions continued to help the Comet create more havoc against SMU. This was about as pure or perfect a game that any one could play. It was a good game played by the Comet and we used the second half kind of like a practice, to work on things we don't normally have because of numbers.
Scoring Trys were
Yahve (1), Daniel (2), Calvin (2), Steven L. (2), Andrew W. (2), Edmund (1), Michael (3), Josue (1). With Lewis converting 10 of those Trys. Edmund then converted 3 of the Trys, since Lewis was off on the sideline. And yes if you do the math, it's going to add up to UT Dallas scoring 101 points to SMU's 0.
Next weekend, the UT Dallas Rugby Club hosts the Dallas Harlequin Under 23's in a friendly match that will pit a lot of our guys that normally get playing time. I don't have a scouting report on this club, but I know they have players that all go to college and because they attend a college other than UTD, they can and do play for this Quins side.
Kick off is next Saturday 11/11 and kick off is scheduled for 7:00pm,
