The men kicked off the afternoon against LeTourneau, the Line up:

Replacements: Nicky in for Luke, Zach in for Alejandro, Andrew for Vince, Justin Mutinta in for Nicky, Eric in for Mohammad, Christian in for Weston, Nick in for Alex
The match as usual was a cracker of a match and knowing that the referee was going to be up with play made things a bit more settling for all the coaches. And as perceptions were imagined, they came true. The match was fast and furious. UT Dallas forwards set the bar against their opposites and the backs kept their opposites in check as well.
It was UT Dallas that got on the board first, with his very 1st Try of his rugby playing career Jonathan Holmes set the pace. and UT Dallas never looked back. Both forwards and backs played at a level that kept LeTourneau off balance. The first half score was UT Dallas 32, LeTourneau 9.
The second half began with a number of reserves taking the field. They played just as well as the lads played in the first half and with the exception that their inexperience showed at times, but that was expected. They played very good against a slightly larger team that LeTourneau is. The final score UT Dallas 54, LeTourneau 14.
Scoring Trys were: Jonathan Holmes (2), Alejandro Chinchilla (2), Cameron Brussard (3), Nicky (2), Marc Hudac (1). Converting/Kicks: Vince Dutton (1) conversion, Brian Martinez (1).
The second match of the day was your UT Dallas Women taking on TCU. This was their second meeting with their young cross town rivals and it was a very good day.
The first match line up was:
1. Melissa, 2. Lauren, 3. Judit, 4. Alyssa, 5. Rachel, 6. Stephanie, 7. Marie
This line up proved to be a very devastating side against TCU, they scored at will and often and kept TCU in check both halves. Scoring was Stephanie (3 Trys), Marie (2 Trys), Alyssa (1 Try, 2 conversions) final score of this first game UT Dallas Women 29, TCU 12.
The 2nd match line up was:
1. Cora, 2. Lauren, 3. Natch, 4. Alyssa, 5. Emily, 6. Andrea, 7. Iami
This line up played very well together and did their best on the field, but it wasn't going to be their day. Stand outs on this game - Iami, she tackled very well as well as passing and running with and without the ball. Melissa who because TCU was short players, played for TCU - scored her very first Try of her young career. Great job Melissa. Back to UT Dallas - Cora, Emily and Andrea all played extremely well against a slightly more experienced side. But it wasn't going to be a good day for the UT Dallas Women, the final score UT Dallas 0, TCU 41.
The 3rd and final line up was:
1. Melissa, 2. Lauren, 3. Cora, 4. Stephanie, 5. Rachel, 6. Marie, 7. Chelsea
This was by far the more entertaining than the previous 2, because everything was on the line. Your UT Dallas Women played their hearts out. Andrea was playing for TCU in this final match took off for a couple of long runs where she exploited and shot the gaps given to her. Andrea played very hard and is recognized by her peers as to what she can do for UT Dallas when she's playing for us. The scoring went both ways, but it was the final minutes that UT Dallas scored a Try to give us a 15 to 10 lead over TCU, when on the next restart, while the kick may not have been the best. Our girls thought the referee would blow his whistle for a do over, but he didn't have to TCU picked up the ball and ran it in under the goal posts and that gave their kicker a strait kick and she made the conversion. Scoring in this game: Lauren Featherstone (her first Try of her career), Stephanie (1 Try), Marie (1 Try) and while Chelsea may not have scored, she played very well for her very first game, running and tackling - welcome to UT Dallas Rugby. The ref blew his whistle to end the game and a heart breaker, the final score UT Dallas 15, TCU 17.
This gave TCU the win for the afternoon, but I will say that all the girls played very well and everyone should be as proud of them as I am. They have come a long way in a short time.
Next weekend, the Men have a friendly Test match against Division 1 University of North Texas, kick off is set for 2:00pm and the match will be played in Denton. Directions will be posted by Wednesday evening. The girls have next weekend off to prepare for their final match against Sam Houston St (2/8/14) more info on that later.
